Stage set for launch of novel land distribution drive

Aim is to spare ryots the hassle of making rounds of revenue offices

The district administration is all set to implement the ‘Rytannaku Bhupatta-Illaliki Inti Patta’ (RBIIP) programme in all the 38 mandals.

It is aimed at distributing land to women and making corrections in the existing records to benefit farmers who have been making rounds of revenue offices for required certificates, according to Srikakulam Joint Collector K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu.

Mr. Chakradhar Babu told The Hindu that as many as 50,000 house sites will be distributed among women and 40,000 pattadar passbooks issued. The persons who occupied non-objectionable government lands will get sites under this scheme which will be taken up between December 15 and 31 by gearing up the entire revenue administration.

Exclusive grama sabhas

The department recently implemented the Rythu Sevalo Revenue Sakha programme and updated 63,318 records of farmers by organising exclusive grama sabhas. The response was good in all revenue divisions such as Tekkali, Palakonda and Srikakulam.

However, many farmers have been visiting Tehsildhar offices to get mutation certificates, e-passbooks and others.

Many farmers are unable to get bank loans and sell their properties when they require money as they do not possess the relevant documents.

District Collector K.Dhananjaya Reddy and Mr. Chakradharbabu discussed these issues with Revenue Divisional Officers and designed the RBIIP to update records and redress grievances of the villagers.

Beneficial step

“The new programme will certainly create awareness among the people about the initiative of the district administration and make them approach the revenue officials concerned. The officials will also focus on the grievances and take necessary steps to help the villagers when the new scheme is designed,” said Mr. Chakradhar Babu.
