Sri Lanka Prime Minister Disanayaka Mudiyanselage Jayaratne on Friday offered prayers at the famous hill temple of Lord Venkateswara.

Mr. Jayaratne, who was accompanied by his family members and other officials, was accorded a warm reception on his arrival at the posh Padmavathi guest house where he made a brief halt before proceeding towards the main temple complex.

Mr. Jayaratne was received with traditional honours by the temple priests and top echelons of the TTD management, including its Executive Officer MG Gopal and JEO KS Srinivasa raju. He was later escorted into the sanctum sanctorum of the hill temple where he stood in front of the main deity for about ten minutes and offered his prayers.

While the priests honoured him with the silk vastram of the deity, the authorities presented him with the laddu prasadam and memento. Meanwhile, the entire Padmavathi guest house area and the temple environs were brought under security cover following the high-profile visit.
