Burglars broke open the lock of the ancient Sri Kamakshi Siddhavateswara Swamy temple on the banks of Pennar river in Siddhavatam and stole the ‘hundi' in the early hours of Saturday.

Temple priest Nageswara Rao found the locks of the temple main door and an almirah broken, when he came to the temple on Saturday morning.

The temple has been burgled four times in the last three years. The 'hundi' and jewels on the presiding deity and Nandi idol were stolen earlier.

Siddhavatam police registered a case on a complaint lodged by the priest.
