: Kurnool Superintendent of Police Ake Ravikrishna and his wife Parvathi Devi pledged to donate their eyes after death and signed relevant papers in his camp office here on Sunday.
Eye donation by one person can restore vision to two persons, he said. OSD (Operations) Raviprakash and his wife also pledged to donate their eyes. The SP said the Police Department would strive to motivate one lakh persons in Kurnool district to donate their eyes after death. In the event of death cases, officials of the police stations concerned must motivate the family members of the deceased and make arrangements to retrieve the cornea for restoring vision to the visually impaired persons, Mr. Ravikrishna said.

Visual impairment would not be an impediment in achieving one’s goals if they strive with self-confidence and determination, the SP said while felicitating Koti Reddy and Veeresh, two visually impaired youths, who secured employment in Bank of Baroda and Andhra Bank respectively.
New clothes
The SP and his wife offered breakfast to the visually impaired youth and presented them new clothes.
Director of National Programme for Control of Blindness, Hyderabad, Bharani Kumar Reddy, Government Regional Eye Hospital superintendent Narendranath Reddy and others were present.
