Six drown in separate incidents

3 youth drown in sea in Nellore

Six persons drowned in three separate incidents in Nellore and Kurnool districts of the State since Tuesday evening.

Strong waves swept away three youth at the Kodur beach located in Thorapalli Gudur mandal limits in Nellore district here on Wednesday evening. The victims were identified as Bari Venkatesh, 23, Penaballi Dilip, 24, and Penaballi Yashwant, 26. They were residents of Kommalapudi village in nearby Manubolu area.

The local residents found the bodies of the deceased lying on the beach.

The sea was stated to be very rough and heavy waves lashed the shore during the time the youth went for a swim.

Picnic turns tragic

Kurnool Special Correspondent writes: Tragedy struck a family which went for a picnic to Cheyyeru river at Nandalur in Kadapa district when an Intermediate second year student of the Government junior college, Syed Chand Basha, 17, drowned in the river on Tuesday evening.

The family members swam in the river water, but Chand Basha, resident of Bepari street in Nandalur town, drowned in a large pit caused by sand mining. The Nandalur have registered a case.

Bodies found

In another incident, two 10-year-old boys, Manohar and Manoj, drowned in a pond when they went to answer the nature’s call in Yerraguntla village in Dhone mandal of Kurnool district.

As Manohar and Manoj, sons of siblings Sugunamma and Venkateswaramma, who went to the pond to answer nature’s call did not return even after some time, their family members launched a search and found their bodies in the pond.

The Dhone Rural sub-inspector Ramasubbaiah registered a case and gave financial assistance of ₹10,000 towards funeral expenses to the poor families.
