Union Minster of State for Railways Kotla Jayasuryaprakasa Reddy has said that the shortage of coaches was delaying launch of new trains announced in the budget.
The new trains announced recently would start chugging on the tracks after June this year. The shortage cropped up on account of diversion of spare coaches to clear the Kumbh Mela rush. Since the festival is over, the trains announced in the past would be introduced soon, he said.
Mr. Reddy, who just returned from the campaign in Karnataka, said that the conditions were favourable for return of the Congress in that State. Mr. Reddy who visited Haveri, Hangal, Byadgi, Hirekeruu, Ranebannur and Shimoga along the Tungabhadra river, spoke to the contestants and tried to resolve the local issues.
Mr. Reddy was accompanied by MLC M. Sudhakar Babu and DCC president B.Y. Ramaiah.
Meanwhile, Mr. Reddy is likely to skip the Chief Minister’s meeting in Kurnool on April 24 as he was disappointed over unconcerned attitude of the State government.
