Seven persons were killed and seven others injured in two different road mishaps reported from Srikakulam and Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh in the last 24-hours, police said today.
Four farmers died on the spot and six others were injured when a speeding mini-lorry hit their pick-up van from opposite direction at V S Colony under Thripuranathakam in Prakasham district at around 1130 pm yesterday, they said.
The driver of the mini-lorry, who was driving in a “rash and negligent” manner initially hit a buffalo (which also died in the incident) and later dashed against the pick-up van coming in opposite direction resulting in the death of four persons and injuring six others, a police officer told PTI over phone.
In another incident, three persons died and another sustained injuries when a speeding lorry hit a group of people who were repairing a pick-up vehicle on the road side near Tharilla Boddapadu village in Kotabomalli Mandal in Srikakulam at around 11 pm, police said adding the driver and cleaner of the pick—up vehicle and a mechanic died in the mishap.
