An elderly person was killed when a train ran over him at the Anantapur railway station on Sunday late night. The person, identified as Ramakrishna (59) of the Patakota village of the Mulakalacheruvu mandal of the Chittoor district, had come to Anantapur to board a train to Dharmavaram to meet his wife and daughter-in-law.

While trying to get on to the moving train at around 11 P.M., he slipped into the gap between the platform and the train and got dragged under the wheels of the train, killing him on the spot.

Post-mortem was held in Anantapur and the body handed over to his family members who came to Anantapur on Monday, said the railway police.
