Sticking to their guns Seemandhra Congress leaders are firm on demanding clause-by-clause voting during the discussion in the two Houses of Legislature on the AP Reorganisation Bill 2013.
Strategy discussedAt a meeting held at the residence of Law Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy here on Tuesday evening, these leaders discussed the strategy to be adopted in wake of Speaker Nadendla Manohar’s announcement that voting would be allowed during the discussion on the Bill and the amendments.
The meeting attended by Ministers – Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Vatti Vasant Kumar, MP Vundavalli Aruna Kumar, Government Whip Dronamraju Srinivas, former Minister Gade Venkat Reddy and others made light of the move by the Telangana leaders that no voting should be allowed on the amendment.
They said discussion on the bill has to be started at any cost even if the YSR Congress and the TDP stall the proceedings.
They decided that the Seemandhra leaders should move amendments and that discussion should take place without any hindrance.
A senior leader said that the President’s letter to the Legislature says that members should give their views on every clause.
“When it is very clear, who are the Telangana leaders to oppose amendment to the Bill,” he said adding that when the Bill has been tabled in the Assembly, it becomes the property of the House.
“The presiding officers will decide on the procedure to be followed while debate on the Bill is taken up,” the leader said.
To meet againThe Seemandhra leaders plan to meet again to chalk out their future course of action.
