SCs/STs should become self-reliant, says Ravela

Massive asset distribution programme held at Guntur. The government is thinking of extending direct credit linkage to entrepreneurs from SC/ST communities.

Families belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes should aim at becoming self reliant and the State government has been aiming to realise the dream of financial inclusion of impoverished sections of the society, Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu said here on Tuesday.

Addressing a massive public meeting at B.R Stadium -- “Chandrannna Samskshama Palana- Dalita Girijana Sadhikaratha,” in which assets worth Rs.120.30 crore were given to SC/ST beneficiaries, Mr. Kishore Babu called upon the unemployed youth to tap opportunities provided by the government and become self empowered.

“The government is thinking of extending direct credit linkage to entrepreneurs from SC/ST communities. We are already financing overseas education of outstanding students in Dr.B.R Ambedkar Overseas Study Programme and we have started Entrepreneur Scheme, Credit Guarantee Scheme and Venture Capital Scheme,” Mr. Kishore Babu said.

Later, the Minister along with MLAs, Dhullipalla Narendra Kumar, Y.V Anjaneyulu, M. Venugopala Reddy distributed cheques of Rs.92.12 crore to provide subsidy to 10, 240 beneficiaries of various schemes of S.C Corporation, Rs.28.18 crore to 3,420 ST beneficiaries and Rs.10.66 crore to 302 Self Help Groups.
