SCS before next electionsunlikely: Chinta Mohan

Protests by TDP, YSRCP termed a drama

Granting of special category status to Andhra Pradesh in the present political scenario is next to impossible, opines former MP Chinta Mohan.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Dr. Mohan termed the efforts of the ruling TDP as well as the Opposition for special status a ‘political trick’ to stay in the limelight. “Actions like resignations and stalling of parliamentary proceedings would never result in getting special status to Andhra Pradesh, particularly before 2019 elections. They are shuffling from A.P. to Delhi just to hoodwink the people,” he maintained.

Dr. Mohan further predicted an ‘undercurrent’, which he opined would lead to a new leadership in the State in 2019. He asserted that people, right from intelligentsia to students, were tired of people from only two communities ruling the State for the past several decades. “Why should leaders hailing from the two communities share the power between them, despite being on the lower side? We demand social justice,” he said.
