Schools across Prakasam district declared holiday for three days for their students as the temperature continued to remain high on Tuesday.

Students of private schools were in for a surprise as their school managements asked them to return home after morning prayers.

All major roads in the city wore a deserted look even before noon as the weather was very hot and humid all through the day.

People sweated it out even during night as it was an extended summer with the southwest monsoon playing a truant .

Denizens tried all ways to beat the heat by gulping fruit juices, sitting before air coolers and eating palm fruits in large numbers.

Except those with pressing engagements outside, others remained indoors during the day.
