Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is organising the 511th death anniversary of great saint-composer Tallapaka Annamacharya in Tallapaka, his native village in Rajampet mandal, from March 27 to 31.
TTD Deputy Executive Officer Sharada told newsmen in Annamacharya dhyana mandiram in Tallapaka that metlotsavam would mark commencement of the death anniversary of the saint-composer, who wrote 32,000 keerthanas in praise of Sri Venkateswara Swamy at Tirumala. The programme would be held at Alipiri, Tirumala and Tallapaka simultaneously, she said.
Lord Malayappa and his consorts would be taken in a procession in Narayanagiri gardens in Tirumala on March 27 where 1,000 artistes would render a “gosthigaanam”, followed by special devotional programmes in the asthana mantapam, Ms. Sharada said. Special programmes would be held in Mahati Kalakshetram in Tirupati from March 27 to 31.
Bahula Dwadasi pooja, Dwadasa sankeerthana, Saptagiri sankeerthana and goshtigaanam would be performed by Annamacharya Project artistes and local artistes at the dhayana mandiram at Tallapaka at 8 a.m. on March 27 , the deputy EO said. Tallapaka Annamacharya’s portrait would be taken out in a procession in Tallapaka amidst nagara sankeerthana by artistes, she added.
Devotional music programmes and harikatha would be performed in the dhyana mandiram from 5.30 p.m. onwards and from 6.30 p.m. onwards near the 108-foot statue of Annamacharya near Tallapaka from March 27 to 31, she added. Ms. Sharada, TTD Deputy EO Balaji and PRO T. Ravi released posters of the programme.
