The former Primary Education Minister and Congress MLA from Singanamala constituency, Sake Sailajanath, is learnt to be facing a political crisis even as the general elections inch nearer by the day.
Mr. Sailajanath, who played the general’s role for former Chief Minister and Jai Samaikyandhra Party (JSP) President N. Kiran Kumar Reddy when the bifurcation Bill came up before the Assembly and was subsequently named vice-president of the JSP, had, for some time now harboured hopes of making it into the TDP like the other Congress party leaders joining it.
In fact, rumours of his joining the TDP were rife just a week ago too. But, J.C. Diwakar Reddy, reportedly opposed his entry and told TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu that hopes of winning the Anantapur parliamentary segment as well as the Singanamala Assembly segment might well be doomed if Mr Sailajanath were to be given the ticket.
Subsequently, senior TDP leaders in the district to The Hindu that the TDP supremo had dropped the idea of admitting Ms. Sailajanath.
Meanwhile, the fact that Mr Sailajanath had made the approach towards the TDP in spite of being given the honour of the vice-president of the JSP, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy is also learnt to be averse to encouraging him any further although no official step has been taken against him.p
Mr Sailajanath faces a scenario where no party wants him while he remains a member of the Congress and surprisingly also the vice-president of the JSP.
Quite a fix indeed, not just for Mr Sailajanath but also for people following the political situation in the district and trying to figure out where the erstwhile Minister fits in in the current political scenario.
