Saddened at lack of loyalty, says Naidu

In an apparent sign of displeasure over criticism aimed at him, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu minced no words in saying he felt “sad at lack of loyalty” despite enjoying the “benefits” being provided by his government.

“At times I feel sad. After taking ₹1.5 lakh [towards crop loan waiver] and now input subsidy and [crop] insurance, they still criticise me. There is a necessity for all of you to think how sad I would feel. Is it justified?,” Mr. Naidu observed.

Other State governments, including Maharashtra, wanted to study the Telugu Desam Party government’s “novel” farm loan waiver scheme to replicate it in their respective States, he said.

Mr. Naidu said: “Any government works for the happiness of the people. When I work selflessly, I expect your blessings and loyalty.”
