With a demand to keep the G.O. MS. No. 271 of Revenue Department in abeyance, the Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham, affiliated to AIKS, has called for a protest at all tehsildar offices on August 3.
The sangham state general secretary Vangala Subba Rao told a press conference here on Thursday that the government had adopted the GO MS No. 271 on July 1 ‘unilaterally’ which gave scope for suspicion among mass organisations and opposition parties on the veracity of the government’s much-publicised ‘transparency’ in e-Pass system regarding land records.
Mr. Subba Rao alleged that the system would invalidate pattadar passbooks or title deeds issued by tehsildars or RDOs giving scope for the influential to manipulate the land records with the assistance of mandal-level revenue officials and computer operators (outsourced staff). Instances of such changes having been made to online land data were noticed, particularly in districts where the government had gone for extensive land acquisitions, he said.
Following discrepancies detected in about 100 acres of land in Kurnool district, the sangham had staged protests for rectification but to no avail, he lamented.
