The State government has allocated Rs. 30.77 crore for the development of fisheries sector in East Godavari district in the 2015-16 financial year. The sum is five times higher than the amount allocated in the last fiscal.
“After including fisheries as one of the growth engines and finding that there is a huge potential for improving fish production in the district, the government has increased the budget manifold,” said D. Govindaiah, Deputy Director of the Fisheries Department at a media conference here on Saturday.
