Row over denial of credit to writer at playlet fest

Bibliophiles from the city were up in arms against the Vizianagaram-based theatre troupe ‘Vijaya Hela Kala Seva Samithi’ for not giving credit to the short-story writer, basing on whose work the troupe performed the playlet ‘Oori Chivari Illu’ at the ongoing ‘Nandi Natakotsavalu’ here on Wednesday.

Renowned Telugu poet and writer the late Devarakonda Balagangadhara Tilak, popularly known as Tilak in the literary circles, penned numerous short-stories including ‘Oori Chivari Illu’.

The same short-story was converted into a play and was performed at Dantu Kalakshetram here. The theatre troupe, however, did not give the credit to Tilak .
