Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Monday directed all the district collectors to estimate the damages that occurred due to heavy rains and prepare a primary report.
This report would enable the Disaster Management Department and Agriculture Department to take up relief and compensation in the affected areas, Mr. Rosaiah said.
Though the crop loss due to the rains is not much, the State government will take care of the farmers who lost their crops and the Agriculture Department will also facilitate crop insurance wherever possible, he said.
The Chief Minister held a brief discussion on the latest flood situation, damages and water levels with the chief secretary S V Prasad and the Commissioner, Disaster Management T Radha and other officials, an official release said.
He enquired about the relief and rehabilitation activities in the rain affected areas of Adilabad, Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar, West Godavari, East Godavari, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, and Nizamabad. He asked Chief Secretary to continuously monitor the situation and issue necessary instructions to the district collectors.
The Chief Minister also directed the irrigation, Roads and Buildings, Panchayatraj and other departments concerned to undertake relief and rehabilitation works in all the affected areas.
Mr. Rosaiah asked the officials to drain out the water from the inundated villages expeditiously and restore power supply wherever it is interrupted. The Chief Minister wanted the officials to continue supply of food packets and safe pure drinking water in all the water logged areas, the release added.
