YSR Congress Party State Mahila president and Nagari MLA R.K. Roja on Thursday said she would plan a series of agitations to expose the “false” promises made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to the students and the unemployed youth, offering them higher education free of cost and jobs in the 2014 elections.

Speaking to The Hindu , Ms. Roja said when Mr. Naidu heaped promises on the youth with a catchy electioneering slogan “Babu Vaste Jaabu Vastadi”, it went viral and the helpless youth had cast their votes to the TDP. He had even promised “Free education from KG to PG”. But he forgot these two vital promises immediately after forming the government, which had only led to growing suicides among youth.

Ms. Roja said many mothers had expected that their children would get jobs and at least unemployment wage. “Their wait now is very long. After four years, the true colours of Chandrababu Naidu are showing. The youth in the rural side are waiting for the opportunity to teach him a fitting lesson. Leave alone employment generation, the TDP government has resorted to removal of jobs in the public sector and hit on the stomachs of the youth by outsourcing jobs,” she said.

She said she would intensify her agitation against Mr. Naidu’s poll promises, creating awareness among the youth about the neglect of employment generation.

Ms. Roja said the youth of the Chittoor district were the worst hit despite the representation of three vital portfolios — the Chief minister, the IT and the Industries Minister. “Even after four years of coming to power, not a single prominent industry has come to the district,” she said.
