There has been an outpouring of sympathy being shown by leaders of various people’s organisations and political parties who have been calling on the family members of the departed mountaineer, Malli Masthan Babu, at his native place Gandhi Jana Sangham near Sangam town here.
As the long wait for the mountaineer’s body is about to end soon, civil society organisations have started pledging their support to the bereaved family members. Lok Satta Party district president Makkena Ankamma Chowdary, accompanied by several leaders, visited Gandhi Janasangham and consoled the mountaineer’s mother Subbamma and his brothers.
They garlanded the photo of the mountaineer and expressed their support to the family.
Nestham Foundation, based in Nellore city, has taken up a novel programme to paint portraits of the mountaineer at select locations to cherish the memory of Masthan Babu’s accomplishments and contributions to the country. According to official sources, the mountaineer’s body would be brought to his native place by Friday evening.
The funeral is expected to be held on Saturday morning. The officials are making arrangements for according a state funeral for the departed mountaineer in recognition of his outstanding services to the country.
