: YSR Congress MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy on Friday, appealed to defected party leaders and activists to realise the ‘real intention’ of the Telugu Desam Party and return to their respective ranks in the party leadership. For those unwilling to do so, Mr. Reddy urged them to resign from their posts and prove themselves by winning the elections as well as people’s confidence through their new party or label themselves as ‘shameless politicians.’

Terming the party members ‘family,’ Mr. Reddy, who represents Punganur in the House, remarked that ‘mistakes do happen’ and urged those who have defected to the TDP to return at the earliest.

“They have been luring our party members with money and have even resorted to blackmail. We do not know what the defected party members were promised, but we are sure that the TDP will surely fail in this aspect. Hence, we appeal to those who want to correct their mistakes to come back,” he maintained.

‘Kickbacks’

The senior YSRC leader alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s ‘development mantra’ has nothing to do with development of Andhra Pradesh, but is linked to pocketing kickbacks for party activists, leaders, Ministers and others. “Be it NREGS works, real estate layouts and other activities done in the name of development, in the capital region and elsewhere, everything is for their financial gain. As per the documents, about Rs. 20 crore is being spent for each district in Andhra Pradesh and the total amount is approximately Rs. 260 crore, without Central funds. How can works (nearly 2003 sanctioned for this season) go on without proper evaluation, sanctions, tenders etc. Do we really have that much manpower to dispense quality work?” he questioned.

Reiterating the party’s stance in this regard, Mr. Reddy said they were not against development, but remarked that they would not support misuse of poor people/worker’s money. He said the party would make a representation to the State Vigilance, the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Vigilance Commission.
