Accusing Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of using his print and electronic media, and the social media, to slander the image of the government, Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu on Saturday said there was no truth in the news report that appeared in Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s media that the government was planning to implement forcible retirement of employees who were 50 years and above, basing on their performance.

“It is a baseless report. It is only intended to create panic among the employees and gain political mileage. Mr. Jagan should stop resorting to such cheap tricks to grab public attention,” Mr. Ramakrishnudu said while addressing a press conference here. Listing the sops delivered by the State government to the employees, right from enhancing the age of retirement from 58 to 60 years to providing “the best ever” fitment, the Finance Minister said the government had taken all these decisions out of its love and compassion for the employees. “In my three-and-a-half decade political career, I have never seen a government that has done so much to its employees in a short span of three years,” he said, and wondered why the same government would resort to expelling the employees from their service.

‘Will approach

Press Council’

“The employees are very happy with the government and are extending their support to undertake the welfare programmes and developmental works in the State. The government, too, is committed to the welfare of all sections,” he said, adding the government was planning to bring the issue to the notice of the Press Council of India and seek its intervention in the news reports being published with vested interests.
