BSNL, A.P. Circle, Chief General Manager (CGM) V Srinivasan has hinted that the Centre is mulling bringing down the recruitments of selective cadre in future and going for appointments on contract basis.
Mr. Sinivasan, who was here to attend BSNL Employees Union 4th State Conference valedictory on Wednesday, reviewed the organisation’s performance at the Sanchar Bhavan. Speaking to the media, he said at present there were 24,500 employees in the A.P. circle, the highest in the country, and this was putting a burden on the corporation, resulting in losses. Mr Srinivasan said that BSNL had incurred a loss of Rs. 600 crore last fiscal .
Pushkaram arrangement
Explaining about the special services to be provided by the BSNL during Godavari Pushkarams, he said that 18 additional towers would be set up along Godavari banks to cater to the needs of the congregation during Pushkarams. Additional carriers would be added to the existing towers and three COW’s (Cell On Wheels) would be installed to ensure quality services in the crowded Pushkaram venue.
