Opposition Leader in the State Legislative Council, C. Ramachandraiah, has dared the Telugu Desam Party leaders for a debate on the development achieved during Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s previous nine-year stint and in the subsequent 10-year Congress rule.
At a media conference here on Friday, Mr. Ramachandraiah resented Mr. Naidu’s claim, in his open letter to the people on the New Year day, that the Congress had divided the State in an irrational manner. “The Congress leaders vehemently opposed the bifurcation and dared the party leadership, but Mr. Naidu, who initially opposed the move, took a U-turn and gave a letter of consent for it,” he alleged.
Accusing Mr. Naidu of shirking his responsibility as the Opposition leader by remaining abstained from the all-party meeting and not attending Assembly during discussions on bifurcation, Mr. Ramachandraiah advised the Chief Minister to stop mudslinging on the Congress .
Referring to the foreign visits of Mr. Naidu, Mr. Ramachandraiah said that the State had failed in getting foreign direct investment, despite the CM’s tours, where Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra were attracting FDIs without such moves,he said.
Likening the land pooling system to the ones during British rule, the Congress leader resented the ordinance, alleging that farmers’ lands were being taken over without their consents.
