The government will deposit Rs. 30,000 in the account of each farmer who is eligible for loan waiver up to Rs. 50,000, Telugu Desam Party district president and former MLA M. Linga Reddy said on Tuesday.

Accusing A.P. Congress Committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy and YSRC chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy of spreading canards against the government on the loan waiver scheme for DWCRA members and handloom weavers, Mr. Linga Reddy said there were no agitations, as the beneficiaries had confidence in the government.

He called upon loan waiver beneficiaries and pensioners to dare Mr. Raghuveera Reddy and Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy when they visited their villages. Besides implementing the loan waiver scheme by spending Rs. 32,000 crore, despite the resource crunch, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was interacting with farmers during Rythu Sadhikara Sadassus and directing officials to rectify lapses in the entry of Aadhaar card numbers and other details, he added.

The government is supplying power for agricultural pump sets, besides sanctioning separate funds for municipalities and panchayats for the construction of toilets.

Membership drive

The TDP leader called upon the party leadership to admit intellectuals and youth into it during the membership drive, which had been extended till December 24.

The drive has already touched 40-lakh mark in the State. “The party has enrolled 11,500 members in Kadapa town, and it will soon surpass the target to enrol six per cent of the population,” he said.

Maintaining that the TDP was ensuring social justice and was not ignoring any community, Mr. Linga Reddy said district, mandal, city and village committees will be constituted shortly.

He clarified that none had been appointed Kadapa constituency in-charge and the State leadership would announce the new committees soon.

Former Minister S.A. Khaleel Basha, party State organising secretary S. Goverdhan Reddy, city president K. Balakrishna Yadav and leaders Ameer Babu, G. Lakshmi Reddy and S. Jilani Basha also participated in the media conference.
