Congress party has hit out at the Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu for his attempts to politicise the flood relief works in coastal Andhra districts.

At a press conference here on Sunday, Ministers N. Raghuveera Reddy and Vatti Vasant Kumar and MLCs R. Padmaraju and Gidugu Rudraraju accused Mr. Naidu of making allegations against the Government out of frustration.

Taking serious exception to his remarks about the flood relief, Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said the TDP chief was trying to demoralise the officials and administration that was working overtime to provide relief to the affected people.

“When the other political parties are maintaining calm in wake of the large scale damage caused to crops and property, it was unfortunate that the TDP chief chose to blame the Government,” he pointed out. He said if the TDP president was so concerned about the plight of the victims, he should extend his cooperation to the Government in providing adequate relief.

He took a dig at the TDP chief for his claims that his Government had done more than the present Congress regime under the Chief Minister K. Rosaiah. Mr. Raghuveera Reddy listed out achievements of the Congress Government on the agricultural front and added that Mr. Naidu had never encouraged farming.

Madhu Yaskhi flayed

Two Congress leaders at a separate press conference flayed the remarks made by Congress MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud against the Governor E. S.L.Narasimhan.

At a press conference, Secunderabd Cantonment MLA P.Shankar Rao wondered why the MP was targeting the Governor, who had only prayed at abode of Sri Venkateswara for the well being of the State. “Is it wrong on the part of Governor to pray for peace in the State,” he asked.

APCC Vice president Madasu Gangadharam told reporters that it was unbecoming of an MP to criticise the Governor. “We have one of the able administrators, as Governor. His functioning can not be faulted by any one. It is ridiculous ro do so,” he added.
