Mydukur police apprehended a prostitution gang that woos customers through “WhatsApp” by posting photographs of women and organises prostitution in a moving luxury car.
Five organisers, seven other women and a customer were arrested, Mydukur DSP Ramakrishnaiah and circle inspector Y. Venkateswarlu told newsmen. Kalyani and her husband Doodekula Raju of Proddatur, Padmaja and Farzan alias Banu of Kadapa and Sridevi of Badvel post their photographs on WhatsApp and woo customers and send women to them by car along with Raju, they said.
The gang lured several poor girls and women into prostitution by offering money and subsequently blackmailed them, the DSP and inspector said. A case was booked against the 13 arrested persons and they would be remanded, the DSP said.
