Prominent citizens in it, big time

May 24, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:57 am IST - Bengaluru:

Prominent businessmen, including at least two politicians in the city cutting across party lines, are involved in betting, big-time, on IPL matches this season, police officers confirmed.

The politicians include a former MLA in East Bengaluru and an MLC elected recently. Even some of the prominent realtors in the city are known to have been betting on IPL matches this season. A retired DGP is said to bet regularly.

Intelligence sources said they were in the know of a meeting of a group of businessmen and politicians, who bet on IPL matches, early this year at a high-end hotel in Central Bengaluru.

However, the city police have not moved against any of these prominent citizens.
