Budding technocrats of the D.M.S.S.V.H. College of Engineering here on Tuesday put on display various academic projects developed on various software and hardware technologies.

At least 25 projects developed by the final year students of the electronics and communications received overwhelming response from the students and teaching staff of the other departments.

A group led by M. Bhavani developed a mobile application ‘Women Security App’, meant for Android cell phone, which helps the police to ensure better security for the passengers of the cabs and other vehicles. Projects such as webcam-based live streaming system to keep a constant watch on the houses to prevent scope for robberies were among others that cater to the needs of the police to introduce security measures. College chairman and alumni of Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, D.G. Krishna Sastry told The Hindu that an entrepreneur training programme will be initiated in the college from the next academic year.

“The programme will help the students to commercially exploit their innovative projects which are developed during their course period. Experts in the respective engineering fields will be invited to train the students as a part of the entrepreneur programme”, added Mr. Krishna Sastry.

Half of the projects related to software arena were designed and developed by the students with the support of their class guides.

The projects would be preserved at the college and the students would be encouraged to improve them in future.
