The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday informed a court that its probe into the Emaar township scam was over but for the receipt of responses to letters rogatory sent to various countries seeking information on related matters.
The responses will be placed before the court for further action if they are received, the CBI said in its reply to the memo filed by Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy’s aide N. Sunil Reddy seeking the status of investigation in the scam. Sunil Reddy is lodged in Chanchalguda jail in connection with the scam.
The defence counsel submitted that the petitions of the accused seeking discharge from the case be postponed till receipt of information on LRs.
Otherwise, the prosecution should be directed to give an undertaking that it will not insist that the court look into the fresh information based on LRs during the disposal of discharge petitions.
The defence was of the view that the arguments will get distorted if inputs from LRs were introduced in the middle of discharge petitions.
The court posted the matter for arguments by both sides on Monday.
