MP Ponnam Prabhakar has flayed Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy for stating that the latter would oppose and defeat the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill in the Assembly.
He said that the Chief Minister had no knowledge of the constitutional provisions. “The Bill can’t be defeated in the Assembly. The State Reorganization Bill is being sent to the Assembly only to discuss and give suggestions,” he said.
Speaking to the media here on Sunday, he said that the Chief Minister was acting adamantly against the party high command by defying the Union government’s decision on the State bifurcation, adding that the Telangana Congress ministers and legislators would grill the Chief Minister in the Assembly for his stand against the Telangana State.
Appealing to the Seemandhra leaders to put forth their opinions on the Bill in the Assembly in a democratic manner, the MP said that the formation of Telangana State could not be stopped even if the bill faced opposition in the Assembly.
He also alleged that YSRC president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy had mortgaged the Telugu pride in all the States and insulted the people of Telangana. The Karimnagar MP further said that the verdict given by the voters in the North Indian States would not affect the electoral fortune of the Congress in the coming general elections. “The local issues and governance had influenced the voters in the respective States,” he said and added that the people would elect the UPA-3 government in the polls.
Voter enrolmentSpeaking on the regard to the enrolment of voters, the MP called upon the party rank and file to play a responsible role in the enrolment of new voters. Expressing concern over the deletion of thousands of eligible voters from the electoral roll in Karimnagar Assembly segment on various pretexts, he said.
