Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Ponnala Lakshmaiah said that division of employees between the two successor States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh should be done on the basis of nativity only to avoid injustice to Telangana.
In a letter to Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan on Thursday, Mr. Lakshmaiah said there were concerns among the people of Telangana on allocation of office space for the Secretariat and heads of departments and principles adopted for the allocation of employees to the successor States.
The TPCC chief said there were concerns among the Telangana employees that division would be based on the options. He said it was clear from various provisions in the AP Reorganisation Act-2014 that option exercised by a government employee is not the only criteria.
He said the decision to share existing infrastructure and accommodation in Secretariat and HoDs of government departments and corporations between the two States was being done in the common capital area. He said several changes of permanent nature were being made to these buildings.
Mr. Lakshmaiah pointed out that a separate entrance to the Secretariat was being proposed from Mint Compound.
For this purpose, existing structures were being dismantled and construction work of one of the APTransco’s buildings at Mint Compound was stopped and contract for the same was terminated after spending crores of rupees.
He felt that sharing of office space between two successor States would result in several complications and affect smooth functioning of the Governments.
