Congress MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy raised the pitch of his speeches on the second day of the ‘Odarpu yatra' on Friday when he lamented that politics in the State had hit rock-bottom in the nine months after the death of his father and former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
In contrast to Thursday, when he carefully refrained from touching upon any controversy, Mr. Jagan could not hide his anger. Addressing a huge public gathering at Narasannapeta of Srikakulam district, the Kadapa MP attacked his rivals for creating hurdles to his tour.
“Politics in the State has hit rock-bottom with no light at the end of the tunnel. It has happened with the demise of my father nine months ago. However, I am not alone as you are all with me. Your blessings, affection and support have touched me. This is enough for my life,” said Mr. Jagan who looked at ease in spite of his gruelling tour.
Unfazed by the absence of MLAs and MPs from the tour, Mr. Jagan said he was least bothered about the leaders since people were with him.
On Friday, large number of Jagan supporters from Guntur, East and West Godavari districts joined his tour. Former Minister Konathala Ramakrishna took part in the yatra along with a large convoy of vehicles. Unlike on Thursday, there were huge crowds at his meetings in Tekkali, Kottapeta, Narasannapeta and Gara. Revenue Minister Dharmana Prasada Rao and his brother and MLA from Narsannapeta, Dharmana Krishnadas's family members worked overtime to make the tour a success.
Sons of the two leaders organised a rally of two-wheelers at Narsannapeta to welcome Mr. Jagan from Tamarapalli.
As his entourage was running behind schedule by several hours and on the demand of his followers, the MP is likely to extend his tour by a day so as to cover 200 km on Saturday.
