A mysterious fire at Kaza village in Mangalagiri mandal close on the heels of a series of incidents of farm implements being set ablaze in villages in capital region had sent the police into a tizzy.
A heap of harvested paddy was in flames in the village on January 5. The incident coming days after the fire incidents in villages around Thullur was taken quite seriously by the top officers in the police department. Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Guntur North, M. Madhusudana Rao, a police team led by Rural SI B. Ankamma Rao recorded the statement of the complainant, Appikatla Murali Krishna. A detailed investigation revealed that Mr. Krishna had some differences with Allamsetty Suresh, a farmer of the same village.
Police who tracked phone call data of Suresh found that the latter had used his mobile at about midnight, around the same time, when paddy stock was set ablaze. Suresh confessed that he had resorted to the crime to avenge the deeds of Mr. Murali Krishna.
The two had been fighting with other for some time and recently, Mr. Suresh has been suspecting that Mr. Murali Krishna had developed intimacy with his wife.
Suresh told the police that he took the motor cycle of his friend with a can of petrol and reached the farm at around midnight. He set the paddy harvest stock ablaze.
