The Pawan Hans Limited, a Government of India Enterprise, is roped in to operate the AP Tourism's heli-tourism project ‘Tirupati Joy Ride’ scheduled to take off on September 16.
Speaking to The Hindu , AP Tourism Development Corporation Divisional Manager R.V. Suresh Kumar Reddy said that a technical team of the Pawan Hans had completed its survey in Tirupati, and preferred the 12-seater choppers for the joy ride covering 15-km radius in Tirupati.
“We find it auspicious to commence the project to mark Tirumala Brahmotsavams on September 16. Tentatively, we have planned to fix the tariff of Rs 1,999 per ticket,” he said.
The official said that to give a major boost to heli-tourism in Chittoor district, the APTDC will soon commission the helicopter services covering the temple towns of Tirupati, Srikalahasti and Kanipakam in 100 km radius.
“We received tremendous response from people for the helicopter services during the Godavari maha Pushkarams. We are hopeful of the same or even more overwhelming public response in Chittoor district,” the official said.
