Nod to prosecute two senior IAS officers

July 08, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Centre has given permission to the CBI to prosecute two senior IAS officers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments L.V. Subrahmaniam and B.P. Acharya respectively under THE Prevention of Corruption Act for their alleged role in irregularities in the development of Emaar township project here.

Both of them were vice-chairmen and managing directors of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation who figured as accused in the case booked by the CBI. Mr. Acharya was also arrested and sent to jail in 2012 . He was facing trial in criminal charges under Indian Penal Code but the sanction of the Centre under Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) to try him for corruption charges was pending.

The State government had not given its consent to CBI to proceed against Mr. Subrahmaniam as his role was not established. Yet, the Centre has now conceded the request of CBI, sources said.
