Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asserted that the guilty, how big he may be, should be punished. The guilty should have fear of law and order.

The police have to act tough against the wrongdoers and violators of the law, Mr. Naidu said addressing the second day session of the Collectors’ conference on Friday.

He said that there was no room for criminals and guilty in the State. The police should not neglect crime of any magnitude.

Andhra Pradesh was ahead of other States in identifying crimes and criminals. A.P. should also be ahead of other States in ensuring that the guilty were punished. Many technologies were available. The police could make use of drones, CC cameras etc in controlling the crime. The crime rate should come by 50% this year, he said, adding, “the crime rate comes down automatically if people have fear for the law.”

Political killings were not good for society. Rowdysim and related crimes should not be tolerated. The police have to act swiftly and control crime against women.

‘Create awareness’

It was also equally important to create awareness among people in controlling the crime. As a step in that direction, all measures taken for controlling the crime should be placed before the public every month, he said.

The crime rate was on the rise in places where development and per capita income were more. Let there be no room for public perception that the law and order was weak in the State.

“Take action against persons who cut fiber grid cables by invoking the PD Act. Suspend officials or men who support any activity which damages public property. Take necessary action against cable operators who are working against the fiber grid project,” he said.
