Sensing a growing unease over plans to relocate people living in four villages in the capital notified region, Ministers P. Pulla Rao and P. Narayana reiterated on Tuesday that there were no immediate plans to change the boundaries of the villages and relocate the villagers.
The statement comes after people of Nelapadu. Sakhamuru, Inavolu and Thullur expressed apprehensions over the reported remarks of Mr. Narayana that plans were afoot to construct a ‘core’ capital in 2,000 acres.
Mr. Narayana during his meetings with party leaders told them that roads had to be widened in the villages to allow earth moving machines and start construction works. He also reportedly said existing structures in the villages would be similar to slums when the new capital takes shape.
His statement was in contradiction to earlier statements made by Ministers that none of existing structures would be disturbed in the new ‘capital’.
They also reportedly said the extended village boundaries would be recognised.
The Ministers, who have been visiting the villages in the dry lands near Thullur, convincing the land owners to sign on the form 9.14 developing agreement and razing farm fields using tractors, met land owners in Dondapadu and told them that the government has no immediate plans to relocate the villagers.
Master plan not yet ready
“The master plan is not yet ready and we are expecting the master plan of the core capital region by May 15. We reiterate that none of the existing structures would be disturbed,’’ Ministers said at a public meeting shortly after razing cotton fields at Dondapadu.
Mr. Narayana further said all outstanding loans availed by farmers in the capital notified region would be waived off unconditionally and added that a sum of Rs.168 crore has been earmarked. So far, loan waiver cheques have been issued to 7,800 land owners, out of 23,000 land owners. Ground levelling works have been completed in 5,500 acres, he added.
Tadikonda MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar and Collector Kantilal Dande were present.
