Krishna Collector Babu A. on Monday confirmed that there would be no change in land alignment as per the design of the proposed deep sea port at Machilipatnam to exclude the proposed private land to be acquired for the project.

Responding to a bunch of complaints from land owners seeking that private land be exempted from the port proposal during Grievance Cell meeting, Mr. Babu told them that the location had been earmarked according to the technical report and recommendation by the experts in the ports and shipping. “At least 500 acres of private land has been excluded from the project during the recent land survey. However, the land alignment of the present port design will not support to spare more land that has been surveyed,”he said.

“The government is keen on developing the port at Machilipatnam by ensuring better recruitment and rehabilitation package. The locals need to welcome the initiative, he added.

Sarpanches of Gopavanipalem, Karagraharam appealed the Collector to put the details of rehabilitation package in the public domain.
