NHAI awards Kondayapalem toll plaza to Kurnool contractor

May 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:59 am IST - NELLORE:

The all-party committee consisting of leaders from the YSRC, the Congress party, the Left parties and the Lok Satta Party took objection to the National Highway’s Authority of India (NHAI) giving its letter of award to a Kurnool-based contractor for setting up the controversial Kondayapalem toll plaza on the national highway in Nellore city limits.

YSRC MLAs Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy and P. Anil Kumar Yadav questioned the rationale behind the NHAI move even as Nellore district in-charge Minister Siddha Raghava Rao and Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana gave an assurance that they would not allow the Kondayapalem toll plaza to become operational considering its implications for the city people.

The all party committee demanded that the State government send a letter of disapproval through the Chief Secretary to the Central government so as to stop the toll plaza immediately.
