The Nellore Municipal Corporation is taking all the steps for the forthcoming ‘ Rottela Panduga’ (roti festival) celebrations to be held at the Bara Shahid Dargah located at the Swarnala Cheruvu here.
Facilities
Mayor Abdul Aziz and senior corporator Nune Mallikarjuna Yadav visited the dargah premises and asked the officials to initiate steps for providing facilities like drinking water, sanitation and so on at the premises. Rottela Panduga got the State festival status last year with the government making proposals to spend nearly Rs. 50 lakh towards developing basic facilities for the visiting devotees.
The uniqueness of the festival is that devotees cutting across different religions exchange rotis in the knee-deep waters of Swarnala Cheruvu as a mark of wish-fulfilment.
Mr. Aziz said that the sprawling premises of the dargah will be spruced up and all steps would be taken to keep the dargah surroundings clean to avoid any inconvenience to devotees.
