Despite the unfavourable weather, ‘Navy Mela’ with the units of the Eastern Naval Command started off on a colourful note at Navy Mela Grounds here on Thursday.
The five-day carnival was inaugurated by Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command Vice Admiral Bimal Verma.
For those who want to get a fair picture of Naval lifestyle, the event serves the purpose along with entertaining features such as amusement rides, games and a host of stalls that showcase several home appliances, home decors and interesting wares.
As part of the ‘Navy Week’ celebrations, two warships of Eastern Fleet will be open on November 23 and 24 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Those visiting these ships are advised not to carry handbags, camera, tape-recorder, mobile phones with camera and other electronic goods due to security reasons. The entry to ships will be open from Pallava Gate, located near the Pipe Line Junction near INS Satavahana.
No entry fee
In line with the Mela, a live band will be performed by the ENC at VUDA Park from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. where the entry for the same is free.
