: The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee has criticised Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for his attempts “to hoodwink people” on Special Category Status, drought relief and other key issues relating to the State. APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy took objection to the manner in which Mr. Naidu tried to highlight the achievements of the State post bifurcation. “Why will the Centre extend assistance to the State when the government tries to present a rosy picture of the state of affairs?” he asked.
Mr. Raghuveera Reddy lamented that at a time when migrations had become rampant from the drought- affected areas, the Chief Minister’s presentation on the steps to drought-proof the State was likely to have an adverse impact on the prospects of securing Central assistance.
“Mr. Naidu, who is in the thick of the cash-for-vote episode, carefully evaded talk on the illegal projects being constructed by the Telangana government across the river Krishna as he is afraid of the consequences,” he said. The Chief Minister mortgaged the interests of the State to the BJP-led Central government and had confined himself to criticising the Congress, he alleged.
