Naidu’s e- governance gets praise from Ravi Shankar

December 14, 2014 02:15 am | Updated 02:15 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday said Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s e-governance initiatives could be a model for other States.

Mr. Prasad was all praise when Mr. Naidu explained to him the initiatives, especially the country’s first paperless e-Cabinet meeting which the latter had chaired.

The tech-savvy and progressive leader that he is, Mr. Naidu could be a good example to follow for other Chief Ministers, the Union Minister said.

Mr. Prasad said Andhra Pradesh was setting new benchmarks with the use of technology and IT in public welfare schemes such as pensions, public distribution system and sale of sand through SHGs.

The State government’s decision to introduce digital classrooms was a step towards revolutionising education, he said.

The government’s use of social media when the cyclone Hudhud hit the coast too was praiseworthy, he added.
