Telugu Desam to waive off VAT on textiles, slash power tariff
Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu has doled out many sops, including abolishing VAT on clothes and textiles, at a public meeting at Magallu village near here.
Mr. Naidu unveiled the statue of TDP founder president N.T. Rama Rao at Magallu village near here, during his Vastunna Meekosam padayatra on fourth day on Thursday. Mr. Naidu assured the cloth merchants, who organised a bandh, that when voted to power he would waive off the Value Added Tax on clothes.
Another “power bomb” was imminent in April, he said. It takes the total burden to Rs.32,000 crore, but the TDP would slash the power tariff if voted to power, he added.
Referring to the SCs, Mr. Naidu said that the TDP would categorise the SCs as soon as possible. The YSR government failed to protect the rights of Madigas by engaging a mediocre lawyer when the case came up before the Apex Court. The TDP would strive for their rightful share in employment opportunities etc by categorising the SCs, he said.
The cheap liquor was making the lives of poor miserable, he said. The TDP would put an end to belt shops and also waive off the agricultural loans taken by the farmers, he said.
The Telugu Desam pegged the essential commodities’ prices in the reach of common man, he said.
Mylavaram MLA and TDP district president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Jaggaiahpeta MLA Sriram Rajagopal, TDP state general secretary Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, TDP Urban president Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Vijaayawada former mayor Panchumarthi Anuradha and others were present.
