Taking a dig at the ruling Telugu Desam Party leadership, YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on Wednesday took strong objection to what he described as ‘dirty politics being indulged in by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu with the opposition MLAs and leaders’.

He went on to attack the TDP, saying that Mr. Chandrababu Naidu had no credibility and discipline which was evident from the fact that he was using money and influence to win over the opposition MLAs now.

During his one-day visit to Nellore city here, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy made no secret of his displeasure with the defected MLAs, saying that he never believed in leaders but that his sole dependence would be on the people and the God.

“The people are watching the TDP’s objectionable activities in this respect. They would punish Chandrababu Naidu when the time comes,” he added.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy addressed the party activists’ convention held at Kasturi Devi Gardens located on the Trunk Road here when former Congress leader Anam Vijayakumar Reddy, brother of Anam Vivekananda Reddy, joined the YSRC along with his supporters and people’s representatives.

MPs Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, Y.S. Subba Reddy, V. Vara Prasad, Nellore district YSRC president Kakani Govardhan Reddy, MLAs and others were present on the occasion.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy arrived much behind schedule and addressed the activists who came from all over the district.

Dig at defected MLAs

Making several references to the defected MLAs, he said that he would not bother about them at all and that he would continue his struggle against Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and his party with the support of the people and the like-minded leaders.

Stating that politics had become highly polluted, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy said that Mr. Chandrababu Naidu had thrown to the winds the scores of promises he made prior to the Assembly elections. “After coming to power in the elections, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu totally forgot the promises he made previously,” he added.

Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy said that the entry of Anam Vijayakumar Reddy into the YSRC would deal a strong blow to those MLAs who had dared to quit their party to align with the ruling TDP. He said that it would be a waste of time to talk about such MLAs and leaders.

I believe in people and God, not in leaders.
