Naidu for tighter security to OMC witness

January 12, 2014 09:00 am | Updated May 13, 2016 09:05 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu has requested Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy to strengthen the personal security provided to C. Shashi Kumar, a witness in the illegal mining case against Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC), of Kadapa.

In a letter to the Chief Minister on Saturday, Mr. Naidu said that Mr. Shashi Kumar was being threatened including attempts on his life by the supporters of Gali Janardhan Reddy, one of the main accused in the case.

His vehicles were also damaged by miscreants but the local police had failed to nab the culprits.

When approached, the CBI had also asked the State Government to provide ample security to him, but in vain. Instead of strengthening security to him, the local police had recently booked a case against Mr. Shashi Kumar to harass him, Mr. Naidu said.
