A woman and her son were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their residence near the Government Degree College in Nagari town, here on Monday.

The deceased have been identified as Parvathi (22) and Eshwar (1), hailing from Kathmandu. Her husband Bhanoji (28), however, was not present during the incident.

According to sources, the family had migrated to Nagari in search of livelihood and were staying at the same residence for the past one and half years.

Bhanoji works at a local handloom outlet, dyeing fabrics.

On Monday morning, the duo were found dead by the milkman, who in turn reported the same to the police. Though the officials found the deceased lying on the bed, close examination reportedly revealed that there were strangulation marks around their necks, putting the time of death somewhere at midnight.

Police had taken the husband in for questioning.

The bodies were sent for post-mortem and a case had been registered.
