The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the disproportionate assets case against Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy and the related Vanpic project case told a special court here on Tuesday that it would file some more charge-sheets in these two cases.
Opposing the bail petition of K.V. Brahmananda Reddy, an accused in the Vanpic case for his actions in his capacity as the then Special Secretary, Infrastructure & Investments, CBI counsel B. Ravindranath said there was every possibility of Mr. Reddy influencing witnesses and tampering with evidences, if he was released on bail.
The CBI lawyer alleged that the petitioner had taken decisions to benefit the private company belonging to industrialist Nimmagadda Prasad, Indian partner of Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) without prior consent of the government.
Mr. Reddy had not verified the memorandum of understanding between the State government and RAK while granting concessions and exemptions for land acquisition by Vanpic project.
Arguing in favour of the bail, counsel for the petitioner C. Padmanabha Reddy brought to the notice of the court that other officials involved in the transactions were enjoying freedom while his client was confined to jail since May 15. He denied the CBI charge that the petitioner colluded with Mr. Nimmagadda Prasad.
The petitioner had also not misled the higher officials and the Council of Ministers while getting approval for the concession agreement as he was not the final authority in preparing the draft agreement.
The counsel further informed the court that the clause under which the special purpose company Vanpic Ports Pvt. Ltd was set up to implement industrial corridor portion of the Vanpic project did not have any mention of BOOT.
Judge U. Durga Prasada Rao posted the orders to September 17.
